Come on guys!I'm curious to know how it was,and to see pictures.
(Bytheway,I've seen one of an event in Vegas with Mel B and it seems Paul has a new hair cut.Actually,i liked how it was.Yeah,I know, stupid subject, - i didn't say anything).
The club Is one of the WORST I have ever been too. 1 Room! - And the sound system which I had read great things of...was horrible. WAY to heavy on the bass :( - I've never had had the bass so load it has caned my camera. But this did! - Some of my HD videos ruined :( - Surprisingly intimate venue. I thought.
I'm never going there again.
Unless Oakenfold's on ofc ;)
He played some crackers...
LOL Flaming June.
Martin and myself were talking about this very tune the Saturday before.
Remix of Southern Sun.
Remix of Bullet In The Gun.
That tune that escapes the name of me...
"There is no time in your life, on & on....there is no turning back"
And he played 2 new remixes of what I thought was a world Tour tune, different each time. Operatic. At first i thought it Kelly & Lee - Only You. But I have listened through the world tour and can't spot it!
And as mentioned in one of the other threads...I've got a snap of Oakenfold complaining to the sound engineer....breaking all their equipment LOL, then caning that already overload sound system to the heavens!!
If you don't wear earplugs when you see Oakey. You' a fool. Trust me. Nothing like a good 3 hour set to knock you back a year in your life adjusting to Tinnitus:(
Anyway. I'm goona put my videos on Soulseek. Up shortly :D
It was my first time at Matter and I was totally impressed with the layout and setup of the club (finally I think that Ministry of Sound has a rival in terms of music and venue). I'd go as far to say that it's actually a superior club in terms of sound system.
Adam White worked the crowd up in the expected way. He’s a big Oakenfold fan himself and so is the ideal choice for a support (he was even spotted on the dance-floor during Oakenfold’s set). I walked into the club half-way through his set but caught him playing his remix of ‘Vulnerable’ to a receptive crowd :-)
Adam finished his set and I was expecting to see Paul walk into the DJ booth when the lights rose from the other end of the dance-floor. In a nice touch, Paul was situated in a second booth atop a stage with a large display behind him playing the Perfecto visuals! In then kicked the vocals (and a remix) of a ‘Host of Seraphim’ by ‘Dead Can Dance’, which proved to be the start of a great set. It was evident that Paul was enjoying to be back in his home-town (may have been helped by the fact that his football team had a convincing win that day too).
Some of the tracks I recall from Paul’s set…
Gui Boratto - No Turning Back
Robert Vadney - Fallen Angels Symphony
Southern Sun Remix (new remix???)
BT – Flaming June (new remix???)
Bullet in the Gun (new remix??)
Its amazing how Paul constantly surprises me with his live sets each time because they are nothing like the shows broadcast on the 'Perfecto on Tour' show each week. There’s trash talk elsewhere that maybe Paul’s not the same DJ – well of course he’s not! Time’s change, music changes, people change – if everything stayed the same it would be ammunition for people to complain more-so. What’s important is that Paul still knows how to put on a show, still knows the music that makes people smile – and Paul did that in abundance :-)
Now bring on December - can't wait for the chance to see Paul at Gatecrasher in Birmingham!
Raquel, sorry to see that you missed it because it was a fantastic night – be sure to let me know if you have plans to visit the UK…
Hey Gaz - good to see you there mate. Just sorry we didn't get a chance to catch up a bit more (you were too busy dancing your ass off at the front :-) I had to shoot off soon after Oakey's set as had a looooong day walking round the museums in London planned :-) Managed to catch a few hours sleep but man it was a hard day (but entirely my own fault :-)
Hope to see you in Birmingham in December - you still planning on coming up?
