A few surprises in there. Paul moves to 23rd this year which would reflect his decision to cut down on the tour dates and let the dj'ing take more of a backseat to his album/soundtrack work.
Big congratulations to Andy Moor who moves up to 15th and also to Gareth Emery who makes a huge jump to break into the top 10 for the first time.

Oakey is a great DJ but you never can be everwhere in one time. So this year we are on 23rd ...
Pretty sure a lot of us will have some brilliant managing ideas to promote his score in 2010, but I'm more sure in fact that the Paul has them too ))))

RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 11:21 AM by wessexATB in the top 20 and David Guetta in third?!? It proves what a joke these sort of polls are. I am sure Oaky doesn't care that much as long as he gets a mention ;-)

Thu, Oct 29, 2009 at 11:46 AM by Raquel LinsWell, you know...popularity.I hate Mr.Guetta's music...perfect set to me?Nothing with 'The World is Mine' or 'Love is Gone'.
RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Fri, Oct 30, 2009 at 1:03 PM by ga11agh3r'The World is Mine' is an absolute classic track (along with another of Oakenfold's hammered tracks by Guetta 'In Love With Myself')...
Not too keen on the newer stuff but it's this that has moved Mr Guetta to the top places. Here in the UK he's has a string of top chart hits so his commercial popularity is at an all time high.
But it does make me laugh when people get irate about the results. Everyone should remember that the pole is not 'really' about DJ skill - it's more a popularity thing :-)
RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Fri, Oct 30, 2009 at 2:10 PM by CrydangeExactly. Tiƫsto's popular. Is he really the second best DJ in the world ? Not at all. This poll reflects a part of the reality, just a part. Is David Guetta more popular than Paul Oakenfold at the moment ? Of course he is. But this is only factual and doesn't reflect what we call the "talent". Guetta is only 4 years younger than Oakenfold, so where's the difference ? He tries to keep a younger and fashion image of himself while Oakenfold is a more mature personnality. Both are great to make people jumping. But none of Guetta's songs and sets made me dreaming ! Oakenfold's music gave me goose bumps. He doesn't need to be fashion and hype to do it. He's great, and I don't need anything more.
Guetta is popular and works with very popular people (Akon, Kid Cudi, Estelle..)... the guys "of the moment"... Of course, we can say Oakenfold's working with Madonna... But I can't say he's shouting it on everyone's roof ! He's behind Celebration, but most people don't care about it. He's the name behind. On tour, he's "Madonna's tour's official DJ". He's certainly not making it for popularity (even if I'm sure everyone clearly saw "O A K E N F O L D" in front of the crowd !!). For money then ? I don't think he's really in need. Then, it's for pleasure. And that's something honest I respect... It's not tomorrow that Oakenfold's going to give his compilations a name like "F*** me I'm famous" !!!
Anyway, to be ranked 23rd is stil huge. Matt Darey's 54th ! Fatboy Slim's 94th... Yeah guys, it's just... a poll !

your words are truly reflect the Buzzz scene and in another hand the true persons who stay behind it.
The absurd of consciousness lack
we all c the DjMag Top 100 Djs' results.
this is all about communication relation ! this Rank don't reflection the true scene Quality's , more point on the trends. and we know - trends are not last forever,
the up coming name who give new breeze to the scene is Robert Vadney ! Robert is the future
just understand the consciousness lack in the mass !!!
what the "distrolinks" ( distributor links on the net who have a close relation to the big cooperation and media company, they are have the tools in the net media to direct the mass in manipulative whys ) spry on the net is what the mass listen too. Robert even not mention in the top 100. absurd !
for me Robert at the top 7 along side Paul at number 1
RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Mon, Nov 2, 2009 at 2:04 AM by IanI dont think that this poll really means too much. Those names will come and go but Oakie's will remain carved in stone!
I don't think that any of the top 10 has played infront of 1.3 million people this year.
I suspect that Mr Oakenfold's bank account would exceed the top 100 added together! And thats what matters - real success!
RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Mon, Nov 2, 2009 at 3:07 PM by NickI think 23rd is probably a fair reflection of things as they currently stand.
Huge kudos to Gareth Emery though...richly deserved top 10!

JFI: Ministry of Sound on 18th December...
Andy Moor

Was a really close call between Ministry and Digital for Paul's UK tour (but I'm still planning on making 3-4 dates of Paul tour if I can persude both my boss and GF to give me the time off :-). Should be some December!!!

RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Sun, Nov 15, 2009 at 10:55 PM by PERFECT0I absolutely agree with Niv.
I wrote a letter to Dj Mag and asked them about Robert's votes and place and they refused to answer me... So this is Dj Mag...they don't even give a sh*t about their readers/voters.
RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Mon, Nov 16, 2009 at 2:10 AM by ga11agh3rI think that 2010 will be Robert's year - he's just signed a pomotion deal that will make him a more recognised name in the UK and some tour dates should follow. Paul credited his track as his record of the year and If Robert keeps doing what he's doing then I can see him breaking the top 100 this next year.

Thanks for your support
the way that DJ Mag treated with your letter is very SHAMED !
the industry work by written rules so they can keep theirs power rise, they open the doors to the one who work by theirs dictate, if you want to be part of the system join the system, (I quot Tibor: " Music industry and true art are different categories") and Robert deserve this more than any one at this point of his career. I know that Robert aware to this situation and he will never lose his faith, way and above all his delightful charm personality.
Robert speak through his creative, music, sounds, feelings, emotion. nobody needs to talk when he around, just listen !
Robert is one of a kind in his field, the music / sound industry, Robert is the future !

RE: DJMag Top 100 2009 Results
Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 8:54 PM by Edwin-LIMO, in trance music the structure is still:
Armin+Tiesto+Oakenfold
Armin No1: Bcoz he sticks with trance with some quality tunes & touring a lot and thus votes sticks with him.
Tiesto No2: Trying to incorporate some indie, house & pop into his sets, some tracks work, some don't. Sets are still good. Also touring a lot.
Oakenfold: Still better than both, produce high quality sets (as heard on Podcast & Perfecto Vegas albums & as seen on live sets), able to incorporate different genres into sets flawlessly. Perfecto the label is also strong since Perfecto Digital been created. Thus, successful residency + high album sales. Less votes due to less touring.
Protege:
Oakenfold>>>Robert Vadney+Kenneth Thomas
Hopefully, next year we can see both Robert & KT on 100.
As a music fan, sticks with Oakenfold, due to high quality output crossing various genres/projects. Just got both versions of Perfecto Vegas. Beunos Aires is a very strong track!!
Keep up your good work Paul & Perfecto!!
Other highlights in trance this year:
Marco V
