He is one of the world's best DJs, having been named number one by Rolling Stone, BPM, Remix and many more. He has been nominated twice for a prestigious Grammy Award. He has a string of remix credits to his name including U2, Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake. And he is currently opening for Madonna on her Stick and Sweet world tour. He is Paul Oakenfold, and he is the headline DJ at the 2009 Mardi Gras Party.
Oakenfold will join UK house duo, Freemasons, on March 7, 2009.
“We surveyed our members and party ticket buyers extensively to understand who they want to play at our party,” said New Mardi Gras General Mananger, Anna McInerney.
“I’m really happy to say that in 2009 we will deliver. Both the Freemasons and Paul Oakenfold are DJs who we know are extremely popular with our audience. We’re expecting tickets to sell out like last year.”
The announcement follow the launch of the official guide for the festival, which includes high-profile attractions such as Joan Rivers, Roberta Flack and actor Alan Cumming, who will be appearing in a one-man show at the Sydney Opera House.
